‘Cooperation with China, GCC countries key to growth’

LAHORE: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States and Punjab University alumnus Rizwan Saeed Sheikh said that Pakistan’s economic development required promoting cooperation with China and GCC countries. He said that Pakistan’s location makes us important in international affairs. He said that geographical, economic and political conditions play an important role in shaping foreign policy.

He was addressing a seminar on ‘Pakistan’s Foreign Policy and Pak-US Relations’ organised by the Punjab University Institute of Education and Research at Waheed Shaheed Hall on Wednesday.

In his address, Rizwan Sheikh said that Pakistan has suffered both benefits and losses due to its crucial location and for Pakistan’s development in the present age; we should go beyond our geopolitical status and benefit from the importance of our geo-economic position.

Meanwhile, the University of Management and Technology (UMT) also hosted a seminar titled ‘Pakistan-US Relations: Opportunities, Challenges, and the Way Forward'. Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh was the chief guest.

The seminar was attended by President UMT and former minister Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Rector Dr. Asif Raza, and Chief Adviser Lt. Gen (retd) Javed Hasan and otherss. In his address, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh shed light on the historical and strategic significance of Pakistan-US relations, the challenges faced and the avenues for mutual cooperation. He emphasised the strong ties between the two countries, highlighting their collaboration in various areas, particularly security and counter-terrorism.
