Suspect held in civil engineer’s murder case
Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in the murder of a Hindu civil engineer in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.
Rahul Kumar, a 34-year-old civil engineer from Shikarpur, Sindh, was killed with a sharp-edged weapon on December 3 of last year at a residential flat. The incident occurred under mysterious circumstances, with Kumar’s wife present at the scene during the attack.
Initially, the wife reported the incident as a robbery, claiming that an unknown assailant entered their apartment, spoke briefly to Rahul, and then fatally attacked him by slitting his throat.
However, suspicions arose when the wife delayed reporting the murder to the police. Further investigations led authorities to focus on the victim’s family members, particularly the wife’s cousin, Shank Sharma. Police have arrested Sharma after CCTV footage from the building showed him entering the apartment, despite his efforts to alter his appearance. Sharma's arrest followed suspicions raised by the victim’s family and the footage.
