14 die on road in 24 hours
LAHORE: Around 14 people died, whereas 1,299 were injured in 1,206 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 570 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 729 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
Two held for selling fake stamp papers
Women Racecourse Police have dismantled a two-member gang involved in selling counterfeit stamp papers and tickets, recovering a large cache of fake documents and equipment. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided and arrested the suspects, identified as Nauman and Sabir and seized 20 fake seals, dozens of forged stamp papers, stationery, a laptop, CPUs, a computer system, lamination sheets, and a 30-bore pistol with ammunition.
Meanwhile, Data Darbar Investigation Police arrested a fugitive involved in a kidnapping case of a girl from Bahawalpur. The suspect, identified as Akhtar, was wanted in connection with the abduction of a girl. The incident occurred a year ago, and the victim's father had filed a kidnapping case at the Data Darbar Police Station.
1,031 drug peddlers held
Punjab Police have arrested 1,031 drug peddlers and booked 1,026 ones since the start of the year 2025. According to a police spokesperson, the police conducted more than 1,700 raids to arrest the accused across the province.
Robber arrested
Police arrested the main suspect involved in a recent robbery and shooting incident, along with an accomplice who facilitated his escape. The spokesperson revealed that the accused, identified as Nihal, had shot and injured a citizen during a robbery at a mobile shop. His accomplice, Malaika, helped him to evade the authorities. Police have recovered the stolen cash and mobile phones, along with the vehicle used in the crime.
