‘Sports infrastructure being built in all districts’

LAHORE: Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial has said that Punjab Sports Department is mobilising all resources and implementing effective measures to foster a vibrant sports culture across the province.

Highlighting the development, Sial emphasised that top-notch sports infrastructure is being constructed in every district of Punjab. Presiding over a pivotal meeting of the Departmental Development Sub-Committee at the Punjab Stadium on Tuesday, Sial shared the progress and future plans of the department. Attendees included DG Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Ch, Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Senior Chief of P&D Department M Imran, Project Director PMU Qaiser Raza, and SO Rafia from the Finance Department.

The meeting reviewed a total of 19 sports schemes, comprising 15 new ADP projects and five revised schemes, along with 44 unfunded sports initiatives. The assessment also covered the construction status of various ongoing sports projects. Addressing the meeting, Sial revealed that new sports complexes and multi-purpose sports grounds are being built in several cities of the province. "A state-of-the-art ground is under construction in Mian Channu, the hometown of star Olympian Arshad Nadeem," he announced. Further highlighting the department's efforts, Sial mentioned the development of a modern sports complex in Sheranwala Bagh, Gujranwala, and a new synthetic track and pavilion in Sahiwal.

He also noted that several multi-purpose sports complexes are being constructed and upgraded in numerous cities, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Kallar Kahar, Sargodha, Jampur, Gujranwala, Rajanpur, Sahiwal, Daska, Pasrur, Chavinda, Athara Hazari, and Jhang.
