ISLAMABAD: German diplomat and Second Secretary at the German Embassy in Islamabad Thomas Fielder was found dead in his apartment within the secure Diplomatic Enclave, police confirmed on Monday.
Fielder’s body was discovered by embassy staff after he failed to report to work for two consecutive days. Concerned colleagues broke into his residence and found him unresponsive, prompting them to notify Islamabad Police.
The diplomat’s body was transported to a local hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Police sources revealed that initial investigations suggest Fielder may have suffered a fatal cardiac event. Reports indicate that he had experienced a minor heart attack in the past, which could be a contributing factor.
“The cause of death has not been confirmed yet, and the post-mortem report will provide more clarity,” a police official stated. “We are thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
The German Embassy has been informed of the development, and further details are awaited. Fielder’s death has sent shockwaves through the diplomatic community, particularly as he resided in the highly secured Diplomatic Enclave, home to numerous foreign diplomats and officials. Police assured that they are coordinating with embassy representatives and maintaining confidentiality regarding sensitive details of the ongoing investigation.
