DUBAI: Pakistan’s Consul General in Dubai, Hussain Muhammad, has stated that bilateral trade between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has the potential to triple.
Speaking at a ceremony held in honor of newly elected office bearers of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) in Dubai, Consul General Hussain Muhammad expressed optimism that the new leadership would play a more effective role in fostering trade and business ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
It is noteworthy that the current bilateral trade volume between Pakistan and the UAE stands at approximately $8 billion.
Shabbir Merchant, the newly appointed chairman of the Pakistan Business Council Dubai, emphasised that future trade between the two nations would be aligned with modern economic demands, giving startups a significant and central role in this endeavour.
Senior members of the Pakistan Business Council, Mustafa Hemani and Ahmed Sheikhani, called for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to enhance trade between Pakistan and the UAE.
They highlighted that such an agreement could reduce tariffs on Made-in-Pakistan products and boost Pakistani exports. The newly elected body of the Pakistan Business Council also announced plans to organise informative awareness sessions in Dubai for Pakistani entrepreneurs.
These sessions aim to educate business owners about the tax system and provide guidance for those planning to start new ventures.
