The Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Sunday issued an order to restrain the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) chief executive officer (CEO) for attending office and work.
Officials said the Sindh government has barred KWSC CEO Syed Salahuddin managing the affairs of the water corporation and Asadullah Khan, chief operation officer (COO) of the water corporation, has been given the additional charge of CEO.
ACE has initiated an inquiry against Salahuddin, due to which he has been barred from carrying out the CEO’s job. “With the approval of the competent authority, the Chairman, Enquiries and Anti-Corruption Establishment, Sindh is hereby assigned to hold inquiry with regard to the issuance of Sub Soil Licenses as well as water theft in the name of Sub Soil in Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation,” reads the order.
It adds that the inquiry report shall be submitted within two weeks. The order reads that in the interest of fair and impartial inquiry, Salahuddin has been restrained from attending office and performing functions of the managing director and CEO till the finalisation of inquiry proceedings and final decision of a competent authority.
