18,000 patients underwent dialysis at LGH in 2024

LAHORE: In line with the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, dialysis facilities are being provided to patients 24/7 on 30 machines at the state-of-the-art Dialysis Centre of Lahore General Hospital (LGH).

Moreover, more than 18,000 patients underwent dialysis during 2024 and now keeping in view the convenience of the patients it has been announced to set up a new lab counter in the Dialysis Centre. This was expressed by Ameer Uddin Medical College Principal Prof Dr Al-Fareed Zafar during his visit to the Dialysis Centre of LGH. He said separate machines have been allocated for patients affected by Hepatitis B and C and there are separate routes to and from the centre so that other patients could not be affected by this harmful disease.

MS Dr Faryad Hussain, Prof of Urology Dr Khizar Hayat Gondal, Prof of Nephrology Dr Ibad-ur-Rehman, Dr Yahya Sultan, Dr Athar Hameed, Dr Yasir Hussain, Deputy Chief Nursing Superintendent Fazeelat Lal, Dr Laila Shafiq, Dr Abdul Aziz and other senior health professionals were also present. Prof Al-Freed Zafar directed the staff to ensure complete implementation of the SOPs of Punjab Healthcare Commissions and not to commit any negligence in screening by keeping complete records updated of the patients undergoing dialysis.

Principal PGMI also directed AMS Vigilance Dr Adnan Masood, DCNS Fazeelat Lal and MSDS staff members to conduct a review of all the departments of the hospital, especially the Dialysis Centre on a daily basis. He asked the MS to schedule a complete screening of the health professionals working at the Dialysis Center every six months to protect them so that their health is not adversely affected in the performance of their duties.
