13 die in road accidents in 24 hours

LAHORE: The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,228 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 13 people died, whereas 1,289 were injured. Out of these, 570 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 719 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.

Man dies in tractor-trolley, rickshaw collision

A man lost his life while two others sustained injuries in a collision between a rickshaw and a tractor-trolley on Raiwind Road, , Manga Mandi, on Sunday.

According to police, the accident occurred due to slippery road conditions and overspeeding. Rescue teams were promptly dispatched to the scene upon receiving information about the incident. The injured, whose identities are yet to be confirmed, were rushed to hospital. The deceased's body, also yet to be identified, was shifted to the morgue.

Suspect arrested for raping minor girl

Kot Lakhpat police arrested a man for raping a seven-year-old girl. According to the police, the victim went to the shop of a scrap dealer, Rafiq, to sell stale bread. The accused lured her and sexually assaulted her.

When the victim’s uncle arrived at the shop searching for her, the accused threatened the girl and hid her inside a drum. The girl raised an alarm, prompting her uncle to rescue her from the drum. Kot Lakhpat police subsequently arrested the accused from his relative's house in Karim Park.
