According to the World Obesity Federation 2024 report, In Pakistan about 12.1 per cent of men and 13.9 per cent of women are suffering from obesity. Sedentary activities, such as sitting for long periods at work, watching TV, or spending time on electronic devices, reduce the number of calories you burn. In addition, easy access to high-calorie foods, like fast food or sugary snacks, and a lack of physical activity can lead to a calorie imbalance, where you consume more than you burn.
Over time, this can result in weight gain and potentially obesity. There is a need for public health officials to encourage lifestyle changes that support safe, long-term weight loss and maintenance among the people.
