The Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) has felicitated the pharmaceutical industry for its commendable act of national unity and generosity in providing life-saving medicines worth Rs10 million to the besieged people of Kurram Agency. These efforts have offered hope and relief to hundreds of residents enduring significant hardships.
In a statement issued on Thursday, PIMA praised the pharmaceutical industry for promptly delivering essential medicines to the affected population through the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA).
The PIMA described this collaboration as an exemplary demonstration of solidarity and compassion during a critical time.
“This generous act reflects the commitment of our pharmaceutical sector to the nation’s welfare and shows that we are indeed a compassionate and resilient nation,” said Prof Atif Hafeez Siddiqui, PIMA’s central president.
The federal government also acknowledged PPMA's efforts, recognizing the pharmaceutical industry’s swift action in alleviating suffering in Kurram Agency. Officials called it a “timely intervention” that highlights the need for coordinated efforts between public and private sectors to address crises effectively.
PIMA further urged the government to ensure sustained support for Parachinar’s people, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a steady supply of food, medicines, and other essential resources.
“This act of unity sets a benchmark for how humanitarian efforts can transform crises into opportunities for compassion and solidarity,” PIMA’s statement added.
The residents of Kurram Agency have been facing severe hardships due to the ongoing siege. This contribution of Rs10 million worth of medicines offers much-needed relief and underscores the pharmaceutical industry’s critical role in national emergencies.
PIMA’s advocacy for such acts continues to encourage nationwide efforts to uplift and support vulnerable populations.
This collaboration serves as a shining example of how the healthcare community, when united, can overcome challenges and provide hope to those in need.
