Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah met with a delegation of Thar Coal affectees at his office on Friday to address their grievances and demands. The delegation, which included Bhim Raj, Leelaram, and other representatives, highlighted critical issues related to employment, access to water, and basic facilities in the region. Shah reassured the delegation of the Sindh government's commitment to resolving their concerns. "The leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has issued clear directives to prioritize the welfare of local communities," he said.
He further emphasised that under the guidance of PPP President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Faryal Talpur, and the Sindh chief minister, the provision of employment and essential services to the people of Thar was a top priority.
In a significant move to ensure accountability and representation, Minister Shah announced that a representative from the Thar Coal affectees would be included in the decision-making committee overseeing development projects. He also instructed the local administration to promptly address the legitimate demands of the affectees.
"The Sindh government is fully committed to supporting the local people of Thar," Shah remarked. "PPP-led training programs are being initiated to empower the local population and provide them with employment opportunities."
Shah concluded by affirming the Sindh government’s dedication to balancing the region’s development with the rights and needs of its communities.
