Girl students of govt schools honoured
HARIPUR: Over 30 girl students from different government schools across Haripur were honored with commendation certificates and tablets for their best performance in the recent secondary School Certificate’s examination and winning the nomination for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Stori da Pakhtunkhwa Scholarship here on Friday.
The ceremony was organised in the office of District Officer Education, Female, in which Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Anam Latif was the chief guest.According to official records, 35 students from different government girls schools of the district were nominated as winners of the Satori da Pakhtunkhwa scholarship programme of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government after passing exams with A-1 grades in the recently announced annual results of grade 10 by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Abbottabad.
As per scholarship policy, the provincial government would bear the expenses of the nominees till completion of their Intermediate for next two years.Speaking on the occasion, District Officer Education Shagufta Jabeen said that it was a record that over 30 girl students from the government schools of Haripur were nominated for the scholarship for the first time which was a proof of the improved performance of public sector’s schools and the talent of the students.
She told the participants that the girl students of government schools from Haripur had also brought home over 12 titles of provincial champions of different sport competitions held last month.
Additional deputy commissioner in her speech also appreciated the efforts of teachers and the students that helped the district to excel both in curricular and extracurricular activities bringing honour not only for their parents but also the entire district. She lauded the performance of the education department and urged the teachers to continue contributing their input in shaping the life and future of girl students who have a very important role to play in different fields and their families as well.The chief guest distributed the tablets and commendation certificates among the girls nominated for the provincial government’s scholarship programme.
