PARACHINAR: The protesters continued the sit-in outside Parachinar Press Club on Thursday despite the peace agreement signed a day before with the efforts of the Grand Peace Jirga in Kohat to establish sustainable peace in the Kurram tribal district.

According to Jirga member Syed Raza Hussain, representatives of the Grand Jirga and community elders from both sides signed the 14-point peace agreement on Wednesday. After the agreement, measures were being taken to reopen routes and ensure peace in the area.

But despite these efforts, the main highway and the border crossing with Afghanistan remained closed, leaving residents in distress and facing a crisis. The sit-in, launched by the affected citizens at Parachinar Press Club and in the Sultan and Gosa areas, showed no signs of ending.

Tehsil Chairman Agha Mazamil Hussain and social figure Mir Afzal Khan reiterated that the protest would continue until the routes were reopened and made secure.Meanwhile, locals remained hopeful that the peace agreement would soon lead to the reopening of the roads and a return to normalcy in daily life and business activities.
