Minister hints at upgrading parks in Walled City

LAHORE: Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin chaired a meeting at PHA Lahore here on Thursday.

PHA DG Tahir Wattoo gave a briefing on departmental affairs. On this occasion, Minister Bilal Yasin stated that upgradation projects were being initiated in small parks in the City. He directed to expedite maintenance work in parks of the Walled City area.

The minister emphasised that there should be no compromise on lighting and security facilities at public recreational sites. Greenbelts will also be developed along allied roads in addition to major roads, he added.

The minister directed to review the safety measures of installations in public parks. Furthermore, suggestions were sought to increase the beautification of major roads in the provincial capital. The minister stated that in line with the vision of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz further steps will be taken to enhance beautification of the Lahore City.

Students urged to play role in peace, ending extremism

Punjab University Directorate of Students Affairs organised an awareness session on security issues at Al Raazi Hall on Thursday.

PU officials, faculty members, police officers and a large number of students were present on this occasion. Addressing the session, DIG Operations M Faisal Kamran said that everyone should play a positive role to establish peace and end extremism in the country.

He said that the awareness campaign was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the public and the police. He said that young students were the asset of Pakistan who could take the country forward.

Faisal said that the Punjab Police officers were setting up open courts from 12pm to 2pm in which the people can share their problems for resolution. He said that adherence to the traffic rules was necessary but unfortunately traffic rules were not being followed properly and resultantly the ratio of the accidents was increasing.
