LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has launched a crackdown on fake weapon licence dealers and repair workshops.
Following the identification of 19 unauthorised dealers and repairers, the department has imposed a strict ban on their operations. Legal proceedings have commenced under the Punjab Arms Ordinance, 1965.
Under the directives of Punjab Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal, the department has released the names and addresses of these entities involved in illicit activities. Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal emphasised that any transactions with these individuals or entities would be considered illegal, and violators will face stringent legal consequences. He stated that the sale and repair of weapons under bogus licences is a serious crime and warned that offenders and their accomplices would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
The home department is also conducting a thorough verification of documents from all weapon dealers and repairers across the province. Citizens are urged to report any such illegal activities on the Home Department’s toll-free helpline: 0800-11111.
