125cc motorcycles remained snatchers’ favourite as thieves preferred 70cc ones in 2024

In terms of snatchings and theft of vehicles in Karachi, 2024 proved relatively better than 2023 with some 10,000 fewer vehicles were snatched or stolen.

However, the data of stolen and snatched motorcycles in 2024 shows an interesting trend, which is that when it came to snatchings, robbers preferred 125cc motorcycles while motorcycle thieves generally preferred stealing 70cc motorcycles.

Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) Deputy Chief of Operation Shabbar Malik provided details about the stolen and snatched motorcycles to this correspondent. According to the CPLC record, 28,561 motorcycles and cars were stolen or snatched in 2022. In 2023, this number slightly decreased to 28,087. Surprisingly, the number of stolen and stolen vehicles in 2024 is 18,213, which is about 10,000 less than the previous two years.

According to an analytical report, 2,207 125 cc motorcycles were snatched by robbers in 2024, while 8,515 70cc motorcycles were stolen. During the year, a total of 1,123 70cc motorcycles were snatched. In 2024, robbers of a coastal area snatched 778 motorcycles of a specific 110cc category. The engines of 110 cc motorcycles are used in boats, which are in demand in the coastal area of Balochistan.
