PARACHINAR: Two more children died owing to lack of medical treatment facilities caused by closure of roads in the violence-hit Kurram district, local civil society activist said on Wednesday.

Qaiser Hussain, a resident of Alizai area in the lower part of Kurram, was a cardiac patient, who got deeply distressed after repeated failed attempts to reach a hospital in Peshawar for treatment.

Despite efforts, he was unable to secure a seat in a helicopter and ultimately took his own life by shooting himself.Prolonged road closures in the district have left residents without access to food, essential daily items, severe shortage of medicines, causing immense hardship for patients.

Two more children have lost their lives due to the non-availability of medication.Protests continue against the closure of the main Parachinar-Peshawar highway, Afghan border routes and other roads.

Demonstrators have set up a sit-in outside the Parachinar Press Club in Sultan and Gosar areas.Similarly, in Lower Kurram’s Bagan area, tribes are holding a sit-in to demand aid for those affected by the clashes that have damaged properties.
