MARDAN: The Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) issued an annual performance report, which revealed that the health facility provided healthcare services to a total of 1,122,244 patients. The report also highlighted that 1,030,556 various laboratory tests were conducted over the past year.
According to the report, out of the total 1,122,244 patients, 610,754 were treated in the Accident and Emergency Department, while 511,490 patients were examined in the Out-Patient Department.
Additionally, 82,707 patients were admitted to different specialties for further investigation and treatment.The report further mentioned that 9,727 babies were delivered at the hospital during the past year. It also noted that free healthcare services under the Sehat Sahulat Programme continued at the facility, benefiting 40,556 individuals who received treatment through the health insurance scheme.
In terms of diagnostic services, the report said that the hospital performed 8,845 Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans, 27,272 Computed Tomography (CT) scans, and 116,611 ultrasound exams.Additionally, 33,224 major surgeries and 11,838 minor surgeries were also conducted during the period.
The report also mentioned the ongoing medical services offered through the Institutional Based Private Practice (IBPP), where 186,550 individuals visited the facility seeking medical advice, of these, 2,605 patients were admitted for further treatment.The report read that the hospital had expanded its services by establishing three new departments including Neurology, Endocrinology (for diabetes care) and Plastic Surgery.
Furthermore, in response to the growing need for intensive care beds, the number of beds in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) were increased from 6 to 14, while a new Medical ICU with 10 beds was also established to accommodate the increasing number of patients requiring specialized care to ensure better outcomes and save more precious lives.
To enhance its services, the hospital also set up a Cauterization Laboratory, equipped to treat patients with cardiovascular complications.This new facility will offer angiography and angioplasty services, allowing patients from Mardan and surrounding areas to receive treatment locally instead of traveling to other cities. The facility is expected to be inaugurated soon.
