MANSEHRA: The district administration of Upper Kohistan on Wednesday finalised a plan to establish a literacy centre in Jalkot Jail in Upper Kohistan.

He said that external security for the jail was being enhanced in light of the current situation, and the district police officer was swiftly completing all necessary formalities. The DC directed the superintendent of Jalkot Jail to ensure that all basic necessities were provided to inmates in accordance with the jail manual.

“You must ensure that the jail environment aligns with human rights standards and provide inmates with warm clothing and quality food,” he added. He said that due to the harsh winter in the district, the jail administration should take all necessary measures to maintain the inmates’ health.

“The district administration is also supplying medicines for the inmates,” he said.Speaking on the occasion, Jail Superintendent Abdul Razzaq highlighted electricity and other issues within the prison.“Although we have installed a solar system, we still face power supply issues during outages,” he added.
