Police praised for peaceful New Year Night

LAHORE: IGP Dr Usman Anwar has congratulated the police force for its excellent security arrangements on New Year Night. The IG said that RPOs, DPOs, traffic officers, and senior officers remained in the field during the night. Due to effective patrolling, monitoring, and coordinated security measures, New Year’s night remained peaceful.

The situation was completely calm, with no loss of life or any unpleasant incidents. The Dolphin Squad, PRU, Elite, traffic police and ARF along with all police units adopted excellent strategies. Instances of hooliganism, aerial firing, wheelies, and other anti-social activities were minimal. The IG mentioned that legal action was taken against lawbreakers who committed offenses on New Year’s night. A spokesperson for Punjab police shared that a total of 384 lawbreakers were arrested across the province on New Year’s night, and 367 cases were registered. Of these, 98 were arrested for aerial firing, 83 for wheelie, and 203 for drinking alcohol. During snap checking, over 83 motorcycles were impounded in various police stations for violations. From the arrested accused, 80 pistols, 04 rifles, 07 shotguns, 03 Kalashnikovs, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were recovered.
