In recent days, there have been some reports highlighting how the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) is harming the local oil and gas industry. I think now is the time for the government to take note of the losses caused by LNG imports and shut down and sell off this sector.
The government will save billions in capacity payments and LNG payments, while the local oil and gas sector will get a boost. While private industries can import LNG on their own when they need it, the government does not have a responsibility to supply them LNG at discounted rates.
