ISLAMABAD: A former minister and Bangladesh legislator Major (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmad, who had served in the Pakistan Army, has come to Pakistan after more than five decades to meet his comrades in the army.
He has been received by the battalion senior under officers of PMA 16th War Course profusely.
His colleagues in Pakistan Army had retired after attaining senior slots, including that of Lt. General. Ahmad joined politics in Bangladesh but he was in the camp opposed to Sheikh Hasina and for the reason wasn’t allowed to have free movement in his own country for two decades.
Major (retd) Hafizuddin was pleasantly surprised to see the enthusiasm and goodwill for him and his countrymen here. He is staying in Islamabad with former federal secretary Syed Anwar Mahmood, who lived and studied in Dhaka up to college and had friendship with Hafizuddin.
Lt Gen (retd) Khateer Hussain presented a shield to Hafizuddin in a local garrison where a good number of his former colleagues gathered for a lunch. Ahmad has been attending feasts arranged by retired officers of the 16th PMA War Course in his honour, first in Lahore and now in the federal capital. Interestingly, Hafizuddin was also the captain of the Pakistan national football team for three years, from 1968 till 1971.
