Each morning, as I make my way to university, I am confronted with the heart-wrenching sight of homeless individuals huddled on the cold streets, trying to survive the merciless winter. Their trembling hands and hopeless gazes stay with me long after I pass by. It pains me to think that while many of us bask in the warmth of our homes, wrapped in spare blankets and sipping hot tea, these souls are left to battle frost and hunger alone.
The cruelty of winter is unrelenting, but what makes it worse is the apathy of those who can help but choose not to. How many spare blankets lie forgotten in our cupboards? How many of us have the means to share even a small meal or a warm jacket but fail to act? Setting up donation drives, distributing blankets, or simply offering a warm meal could bring hope and life to those who feel abandoned. This winter, let’s not turn a blind eye to the suffering around us.
