Police to check ‘wheelie-doers’, firing on New Year Night

LAHORE: Punjab Police Monday constituted special teams to stem firing in the air and one-wheeling on New Year night.

The IGP ordered strict action against individuals involved in aerial firing and one-wheeling on the occasion. The Punjab Police booked 3,595 individuals for their involvement in aerial firing. In Lahore 523 people were booked against those involved in aerial firing, and 572 individuals were arrested. Across the province, 3,170 cases were filed against individuals involved in one-wheeling, and 3,365 people were arrested. In Lahore, 1,641 cases were registered against those involved in one-wheeling and 1,569 individuals were arrested.

Suspect held for selling fireworks online

Data Darbar Police, acting on a tip-off, arrested a suspect selling fireworks online. The accused, Khizar Hayat, was found in possession of fireworks worth millions. He was supplying fireworks through local transport after taking online orders.

Two-member robbery gang arrested

Lahore Police continued their intelligence-based operations to maintain peace in the city. Mujahid Squad arrested a two-member inter-district robbery gang at Shera Kot. Officers stationed at the checkpoint identified two suspicious passengers in public transport. Upon checking, suspects Arshad and Atif were found with pistols and four mobile phones.

Dolphin, PRU teams respond to 893 calls

During the past week, Dolphin and PRU teams responded to 893 helpline calls, providing immediate assistance to citizens. Additionally, nine dangerous robbery gangs were apprehended during stop-and-search operations. Narcotics dealers were caught with 11 bottles of alcohol, ice, and hashish. Twelve suspects involved in one-wheeling, five in kite flying, and nine in aerial firing and fireworks were arrested. During patrolling, 43 proclaimed offenders, 180 habitual criminals, and 19 court absconders were apprehended.
