Cold wave to persist
LAHORE: Partly cloudy and cold weather was recorded in the City here on Monday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.
Met officials said that continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country while a shallow westerly wave was likely to affect western and extreme northern parts from Tuesday evening/night. They predicted that mainly cold and partly cloudy weather was expected in most parts of the country. Very cold weather was likely in hilly areas during morning/ night hours. Monday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Leh where mercury dropped to -13°C, while in Lahore, it was 5.8°C and maximum was 14.2°C. Meanwhile, the average AQI of the City was recorded as 193, which came in the category of unhealthy while the PM2.5 concentration was 23.1 times the World Health Organisation annual PM2.5 guideline value. The most polluted city localities included Askari 10 (380), Hiking & Mountaineering Club GCU (304), US Consulate (287), Near Ada Plot, Raiwind Road (280), Model Town link road (255), Phase VIII DHA (251) and MM Alam Road (243).
