I think the PPP feels threatened by the talks between the PTI and the government and the prospect that they might bear results. Therefore, its leadership has suddenly woken up to the people’s grievances like the canal project, internet and other issues. In my opinion, the PPP is not really too concerned with the problems of the people and how to solve them and is merely trying to put pressure on the PML-N-led federal government in an attempt to dissuade them from any deal with the PTI, which would diminish the PPP’s political leverage.
But the people are unlikely to be fooled by this sudden switch in rhetoric. The PPP leadership can only regain popularity by reducing corruption, combatting water theft and improving its overall governance in Sindh.
