LALAMUSA: The Gujrat police Monday released its performance report for the year 2024.During 2024, the Gujrat Police launched a crackdown on criminals, drug dealers, illegal arms holders, and organised gangs and recovered stolen property, illegal weapons, and drugs worth millions of rupees.
The police detained more than 4,300procalimed offenders (POs), 1,749 of Category A and 2,529 Category B.
Additionally, 27 POs, who had fled abroad, were successfully apprehended with the assistance of Interpol.The police tracked and apprehended 141 gangs involved in theft, robbery, and dacoity across the region and arrested 371 gangsters and recovered items worth Rs14.57million from their possession and returned to legal owners.
The police recovered 734 stolen mobile phones from perpetrators of street crimes and gave the phones to actual owners.The police confiscated 943 kg cannabis, 14kg methamphetamine (ice), 105 kg heroin, and 9,578 bottles of liquor and arrested 54 drug peddlers.
The police booked 1,821 illicit weapon holders and seized 87 Kalashnikovs, 206 rifles, 107 guns, 7 carbines, 1,610 pistols, and 22 revolvers from the possession of suspects.Gujrat District Police Officer (DPO) Mustansar Atta lauded police efforts and said police achievements reflect the commitment of cops to protecting the citizens of Gujrat.
