About 25 million children are out of school in our country. This dictates that primary education should receive top priority followed by secondary and tertiary education. Unfortunately, our rulers have adopted lopsided priorities. Despite meagre finances, we spend a big chunk of our revenue on tertiary education, neglecting basic education which is a fundamental human right.
None of our country’s problems like health, education, energy, etc, have been solved. Instead expensive ‘research’ has been done for self-glorification. We are told stories of scientific advancements that are not even practised in progressive countries. It is like having ten children, leaving nine of them without education and spending everything on a single child who contributes nothing to the country and then moves abroad for self-gain. Our rulers should follow pro-people policies by focusing on basic health and education.
