Alleged detention
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday issued notice to owners of a brick kiln and police officers in reported illegal detention of a labourer.
A two-member bench comprising PHC Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel and Justice Daud Khan issued the notice to owners of brick kiln, Tila Muhammad and Zar Ali, to appear and explain their position for allegedly detaining a labourer unlawfully.
The court also issued notice to Superintendent of Police (Rural) and station house officers of Urmar and Phandu police stations for not taking action against the brick kiln owners for detaining a citizen.
The court issued notice in a writ petition of Naseema, a resident of Urmar village, claiming that the brick kiln owners had allegedly detained her husband Hakeem. She submitted that they along with children were working with the brick kiln owners who later started taking forced labour from them and restricted their movement only to the brick kiln.
She stated that one night the whole family ran away from there, but later the brick kiln owners along with other men came to Phandu area and picked her husband from and detained him.
