ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram Sunday slammed what he called the political acrobats and courtiers of Sharif and Zardari ‘who were targeting PTI founder Imran Khan merely to get public attention and media coverage’.

Reacting to Khawaja Asif and Bilawal’s outbursts, Waqas hit back, emphasizing that even these ‘political entertainers’ privately acknowledged that PTI founder sacrificed his comfort for Pakistan’s greater good and only he was the political reality of the country.

He emphasized that the party founder chairman is a leader of international stature, while his critics are mere pawns unleashed by their masters to unnecessarily criticize him because the political demise of outdated and corrupt political dynasties of Sharif and Zardari was imminent.

Waqas alleged that these ‘powers greedy cliques’ had not entered into a marriage of convenience to serve the nation’s interests, but to deliberately push Imran Khan out of the political landscape. “However, their sinister plan ultimately backfired, as they failed miserably in their attempts to sideline him,” he claimed.

He called Bilawal an ‘angry political child’ and advised him to focus on debating with politicians on his own level, rather than targeting Imran Khan, a leader of international stature and leader of the Ummah.

Waqas lamented that unfortunately Zardari has a history of exploiting his politically immature young son as a tool to pressurise the PMLN into making concessions by unleashing him to target Sharifs to gain leverage in negotiations.

He highlighted Imran Khan’s unwavering commitment to Pakistan’s sovereignty and national pride, recalling how he consistently stood firm against foreign conspiracies. Notably, he recalled that during PTI’s tenure, no drone attacks occurred within its borders, and no country dared breach its territorial sovereignty.

Waqas referred to a pivotal moment when India crossed the red line, launching an attack within Pakistan’s borders, but the then PTI government made history by downing an Indian aircraft and capturing a pilot alive, which demonstrated the then government’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Imran Khan never relied on foreign intervention to secure deals, unlike Zardari and Sharif, who left the country in a shambles and then negotiated exits to avoid jails,” he remarked. He lambasted Khawaja Asif as the most absurd politician, whose irresponsible statements, including his remarks on Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi, have consistently embarrassed Pakistan on the international stage, despite holding key positions such as Minister of Defence and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

He observed, “On the one hand, Khawaja Asif you and your colleagues have been claiming for years that Imran Khan was a project of the army. On the other hand, by calling him an ‘Israeli asset’, are you trying to accuse the Pakistan Army of supporting the PTI at the behest of Israel”.

“Did Pakistan’s state institutions during Imran Khan’s rule continue to share highly sensitive national matters and information with an Israeli asset. Khawaja Asif, by making such false statements, you are actually hurting the entire national security system,” he added.
