Computer labs established in madrasas: DC

GUJRANWALA: A MoU was signed by the district administration, Tevta and seminaries to provide modern education to the students in the religious schools.

In this connection, a ceremony was held at DC office which was attended by Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed, Tevta Chairman Brig (retd) Sajid Khokhar, Tevta Punjab Director General Amir Aziz, administrators of religious schools, former president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mian Umar Saleem, SVP Chaudhry Muhammad Yousuf, executive member Faisal, Maulana Saeed Ahmed Siddiqui, Maulana Jawad Mahmood Qasmi, Maulana Muhammad Imran Arif, Mufti Shaban Qadri and Maulana Nasir Virk signed the MoU. While addressing the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed said that computer labs and technical labs had been established in four male madrasas, Darul Uloom Naqshbandia, Jamia Nusrat Uloom, Jamia Qasimia and Jamia Jafariya, and three female madrasas, Jamia Muhammadia, Jamia Qasimia and Tanzeemul Islam Education Centre, where six-month courses would be conducted for the students of the madrasas. He said that the district administration wants to increase the number of such madrasas from seven to 100 in future.

Brig (retd) Sajid Khokhar while welcoming the start of computer and technical education in religious madrasas said that this project started in Gujranwala was a unique and exemplary project of its kind. He said that the Tevta was running 31 such institutions earlier while technical education was being provided to prisoners in jails so that they too can play a role in the society as useful citizens. Mian Umar Saleem said that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry was committed to work with the Tevta.
