+92Disrupt moot highlights Pakistan’s startups, tech sector investment

The Katalyst Labs has recently hosted a two-day +92Disrupt conference, bringing together tech startups, IT and financial experts, and potential investors.

The event aimed at exploring how Pakistan’s youth could leverage cutting-edge technology to drive economic transformation. One of the main objectives of the two-day moot was to highlight Pakistan’s massive potential in IT, technology and related sectors for investment. The conference assembled over 850 tech startup founders, prospective investors and students under one roof. The topics related to artificial intelligence and fintech were discussed at length at the moot.

Katalyst Labs CEO and founder Jehan Ara told the audience at the conference that technology could play an important role in resolving public issues. For this purpose, the relevant quarters should extend maximum support to numerous tech companies and startups in the country, she said.

She explained that the two-day event was aimed at providing an opportunity to the operators of tech startups to interact with one another and learn from others’ experiences.Prominent speakers at the event were eminent names in the IT and financial sectors, including Zaid Inam, Maheen Rahman, Asad Malik and Atif Awan.

In their speeches, they emphasised that technology served as the backbone of the economy. They also stressed that a conducive environment should be available to attract investment to the key sectors of the Pakistani economy.

Marriyum Haroon, an HR expert who participated in the conference, was of the view that the two-day moot had shown that the Pakistani youth were at the forefront of the global IT revolution. An AI Challenge Competition was also held under the conference, which was won by a girls team of the NED University of Engineering and Technology. The winning team said it was a matter of immense happiness for them that the application developed by them was adjudged as the top tech innovation at the event.
