Our politics problem
Pakistan’s political system faces several key challenges that hinder its progress. One of the most significant issues is the lack of visionary leadership. Politicians often focus on short-term, populist measures instead of addressing long-term national challenges like economic stability, education, and healthcare. Leadership is often personality-driven, rather than being based on policies that could benefit the nation. Meritocracy is another critical missing element. Political appointments are frequently made based on nepotism or alliances, rather than competence.
This undermines the effectiveness of key institutions and hampers good governance. Furthermore, accountability and transparency are largely absent, with anti-corruption rhetoric often used for political gain rather than as a tool for reform. For Pakistan to move forward, it needs a political system that prioritises merit, accountability, public welfare, and the involvement of its youth.
