LAHORE: The Faisal Bank’s 69th National Track Cycling Championship concluded on a grand note with electrifying performances by the country’s top cyclists and a spectacular closing ceremony in Lahore.
The final day commenced with intense competition in the Sprint, Elimination, and Keirin events for both the Men’s Elite and Women’s Elite categories. The championship, sponsored by Faisal Bank, concluded with a grand finale in Lahore. The event featured intense competition in various cycling disciplines, and several athletes emerged as champions.
The championship also recognized the contributions of former cyclists and celebrated the growth of cycling in Pakistan. In the Sprint Race (Men’s Elite), Aqib Shah (SSGC) paddled to gold ahead of Sanaullah (KP) – Silver and Azeer (Sindh) who claimed silver and bronze.
In the Elimination (Women’s Elite), Rajia (SSGC) won the gold and was followed by Kishwar (Punjab) for silver and Laila (KP) for bronze. The Elimination (Men’s Elite), saw Sanaullah (KP) winning gold with Rahmatullah (Balochistan) taking silver and Aqib Shah (SSGC) – bronze.
Rajia (SSGC) was the winner of gold in Keirin (Women’s Elite, 6 laps) while Marina (Balochistan) had silver and Laila (KP) begged bronze. In Keirin (Men’s Elite, 6 laps), Aqib Shah (SSGC) was the winner of gold, Umar Farooq (KP) took silver and Wasim (Balochistan) settled for bronze.
