PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Saturday asked the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to provide funds and powers to the representatives of the local government.
He was addressing a meeting of QWP workers at Sherpao village in Charsadda district.
The meeting also discussed the party’s organizational affairs and the prevailing political situation.
Sikandar Sherpao criticized the PTI government for denying funds and powers to local government representatives. He urged the provincial government to meet the demands of the protesting representatives of the local bodies members.
He said that the representatives of the local governments were compelled to stage protests for their lawful rights.
Sikandar Sherpao expressed disappointment over the provincial government’s failure to allocate development funds for local government representatives, adding that this had forced them to stage a protest.
He criticized the provincial government for failing to improve deteriorating law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said that the situation was worsening with each passing day.
“There is no sign of progress or prosperity in the province. The government’s ten-month performance is abysmal,” Sikandar Sherpao remarked, lamenting the province’s lack of access to major development projects.
He said the PTI had been in power in the province since 2013, accusing it of failing to bring development and prosperity. “The PTI has pushed the province into debt and backwardness,” he added.
Sikandar Sherpao added that the provincial government had failed to protect the rights of the people and address issues being faced by the people. He added that the province had plunged into a state of backwardness and insecurity due to the flawed policies of the PTI government.
