Pak, Saudi religious affairs ministries sign MoU for cooperation

MoU to envisage cooperation to prepare preachers, introducing Islam, printing, translating and distributing Holy Quran's copies

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah of Saudi Arabia and Guidance and Ministry of Religious Affairs have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in different activities.

The MoU which was signed in Jeddah will envisage cooperation to prepare preachers, introducing Islam and its virtues, printing, translating and distributing copies of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah.

Training for preachers and Imams, and exchanging expertise in mosque construction and maintenance is also included in MoU document, the spokesman of Ministry of Religious Affairs said.

Other areas of cooperation concern reviving Islamic heritage, publishing Islamic books and studies, collecting, preserving, cataloging, and disseminating Islamic texts and manuscripts that highlight the Muslim civilization.

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh.

The Ministry was represented by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Awad bin Sabti Al-Anazi, while the Pakistani side was represented by Zulfiqar Haider, a senior official of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
