Report sought on plea for FIR against YouTuber
A sessions court on Saturday issued a notice to the Hyderi Market SHO to submit a report on an application seeking registration of an FIR against a YouTuber for "disrespecting" namaz.
Advocate Riaz Ali Solangi filed the application under Section 22-A of the Criminal Procedure Code, naming the SSP Complaint Cell (Central) and the station house officer of the Hyderi Market police station as respondents while YouTuber Rajab Butt as proposed accused.
The applicant stated that on December 24, he watched a viral video in which a person was disrespecting namaz. "When the applicant watched this video, he felt deeply hurt and saddened," Solangi said.
The lawyer said the YouTuber's act caused a deep hurt to all Muslims. The lawyer pleaded with the court to direct the police to record his statement and lodge an FIR against the proposed accused.
The court summoned a report from the Hyderi Market SHO and set January 13 as the date of the initial hearing.
