Islamabad : In a brazen display of street crime, four Chinese nationals were robbed at gunpoint in the upscale F-8/1 sector of Islamabad late Saturday evening. The federal capital, known for hosting top bureaucrats, diplomats, and prominent businessmen, once again witnessed the vulnerability of its residents to daring criminal activities.

According to the complaint filed by Zhoux Peng at the Margalla police station, he and three fellow Chinese nationals – Yan Chay Ming, Hu Guoliang, and Yang Qun – were returning home after attending a dinner when they were intercepted by two armed motorcyclists at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The assailants held the group at gunpoint and forcibly snatched six premium mobile phones, including Huawei Pro Mate 60 and Huawei Pro Mate 40 models, collectively valued at Rs4.8 million. After committing the robbery, the suspects fled the scene, leaving the victims in shock.

The Margalla police have registered a case under Section 392 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and initiated an investigation. Speaking on the incident, police officials suggested that the suspects might be linked to criminal elements originating from Afghanistan, though no conclusive evidence has been presented so far.

“We are actively pursuing leads and are confident that the perpetrators will be apprehended soon,” a police spokesperson stated.

The incident raises concerns over the safety of foreign nationals residing in Islamabad, a city considered one of the most secure regions in Pakistan. This is not the first time foreigners have been targeted in such crimes, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect residents from the growing menace of street crime.

Local authorities are under increasing pressure to expedite the investigation and ensure justice is served. Additionally, there are calls to reinforce law enforcement in areas frequented by expatriates and high-profile individuals.
