SUKKUR: The Sindh government on Friday announced to solarise institutions, saying it will help save energy and address the energy crisis in the country.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, while talking to journalists in Sukkur before attending the 17th death anniversary of former prime minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, said that despite difficulties, a large number of people were attending the death anniversary of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
“The Sindh government is trying to provide all facilities to the people as more than expected people are present at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto,” he said. The CM further said that solarisation work was underway in Sindh as “we started it about 12 years ago”. He said the Sindh government has solarised Khipro and two villages of Sanghar district.
In the first phase, the government institutions are being solarised to save energy, he said, adding that solarising institutions will help tackle the energy crisis.
He further said the government is building two solar parks in Karachi and one in Jamshoro, adding that they will benefit the people by generating cheap electricity and supplying it to grid stations.
He said that the PPP Sindh government was providing two lakh solar home systems to the poor. “We are going to start another five lakh solar home systems project.”
The CM said in line with the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, 2.1 million houses are being built for flood victims. “The houses of flood victims will be solarised under Green Energy Project,” he said.
