The key role of an Indian agent in smuggling Pakistani citizens to Europe and other countries via Azerbaijan has come to light.

In this regard, four passengers from Baku detained in Karachi have made important revelations. According to Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) officials, four passengers, including Haseeb Ahmed, Qaiser Ahmed, Usman Ali and agent Abdul Shakoor, were taken into custody in an immigration operation at the Karachi airport on Friday.

The suspects belong to Faisalabad, Chiniot, Gujranwala and Nankana Sahib. Of them, Shakoor reportedly made agreements of Rs 1.4 million each for sending the other suspects to Poland.

The suspects paid Rs 250,000 each in advance to the agent. Under the plan, they were to travel illegally from Azerbaijan to Poland. Important evidence was recovered from the mobile phone of Shakoor.

According to FIA officials, the agent’s contacts with an Indian agent in Azerbaijan had also been traced. The Indian agent, Gautam Sharma, was supposed to send the suspects from Baku to Poland illegally.

The arrested men have been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi for further investigations.
