Deficient healthcare
Pakistan’s healthcare system is plagued by inadequate infrastructure, which severely impacts the quality of care for millions of citizens. The lack of government investment is reflected in the form of public healthcare facilities where outdated equipment, overcrowding and insufficient supplies are widespread. One of the most difficult challenges is the shortage of healthcare professionals.
This shortage is notably severe in rural areas as well as in some urban public hospitals where medical staff are either scarce or lack proper training. The consequences of these deficiencies are severe. Even if initiatives like the Ehsaas Health Card offer some relief, much more needs to be done to overhaul the country’s healthcare infrastructure.
