Wheat growers promised fair profit
LAHORE:The provincial Agriculture Department spokesperson Thursday said the Punjab government will take appropriate measures for the fair profit for wheat growers next year.
According to the spokesperson, the government will procure wheat at the rate of Rs 2,800 per maund from farmers. The spokesperson urged farmers to ignore misleading news items regarding the prices of wheat crop.
The spokesperson stated that Rs 2,900 has been fixed for 40 kilogram of wheat solely for the release of existing government stocks stored in the warehouses of the Food Department and the measure aimed at ensuring the availability of flour to the public at reasonable rates. However, this pricing has no connection to the rates for the upcoming wheat harvest, the spokesperson added.
