ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, who assumed office in Washington in August this year, will have important consultations here with senior officials next week regarding the ties between Pakistan and the United States.

In a brief chat with The News, Ambassador Rizwan confirmed his next week’s schedule of Islamabad visit without divulging any detail about his upcoming mission.

The sources said that the dash to Islamabad by country’s ambassador for the United States has conspicuous significance as the new US President Donald Trump’s taking charge of office is less than four weeks away.

It is understood that ties between Pakistan and the United States could take a new turn in the wake of change of hands in the White House and signals emanating from the US are viewed as interference in domestic affairs of Pakistan.

Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh would return to Washington soon after consultations. He will attend President Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.
