Christians in Karachi celebrated Christmas with great zeal and devotion on Wednesday, reflecting the city’s cultural diversity. Special prayer services were held in churches across the city, where worshippers gathered to offer prayers for the nation’s peace, prosperity and security.

Churches were adorned with festive decorations, and many homes were lit up with Christmas lights. Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, a historic landmark in the city, hosted one of the main events, drawing a large number of attendees.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori also attended the special prayer ceremony at the cathedral that was led by Father Benjamin Shehzad, who offered prayers for peace and prosperity. Tessori extended Christmas greetings to Christians, appreciating their significant contributions to the country’s economic development. “The Christian community stands shoulder to shoulder with us in progress, and they enjoy complete freedom in Pakistan.”

Rajveer Singh Sodha, special assistant to the chief minister for human rights, also conveyed Christmas greetings to Christians, emphasising the spirit of love, peace and brotherhood that the occasion brings.

Sodha highlighted the valuable role of Christians in the nation’s development and social harmony. He noted that Christmas serves as a reminder to embrace the virtues of humanity, tolerance and service, urging people to celebrate the day by fostering unity and spreading joy.

In addition to religious services, community events, including charity drives and festive meals, were organised to spread the message of love and unity. Extensive security arrangements ensured a peaceful environment, allowing worshippers to celebrate freely.
