Partly cloudy, cold weather forecast

LAHORE:Partly cloudy and cold weather was observed in the City Wednesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours. Met officials said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country.

They predicted that mainly cold and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country while very cold in hilly areas during morning and night hours. Cloudy weather with light rain/light snow may occur in Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during evening/night.

Smog/fog (in patches) was likely to persist at few plain areas of Punjab, upper/central Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during morning/night hours. Frost was likely to occur at isolated places in Pothohar region during morning hours. Wednesday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Leh where mercury dropped to -13°C, while in Lahore, it was 5.6°C and maximum was 21.5°C.

Meanwhile, the average AQI of the city was 208, which came in the category of very unhealthy. The most polluted city localities included Polo Ground Cantt (259), Barki Road (253), Thokar (250), Hiking & Mountaineering Club GCU (242), Askari 10 (232), Mini Market Gulberg (226), Near Ada Plot, Raiwind Road (220) and Phase VIII DHA (215).
