PSB notifies prize money rise for medal winners

LAHORE: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has issued a notification announcing an increase in prize money for athletes who win medals in the Olympics and other international competitions.

According to the notification, gold medalists in the Summer, Winter, and Paralympic Games will now receive a prize money of Rs. 1 crore. Silver medalists in the Olympics will be awarded Rs. 75 lakh, while bronze medalists will receive Rs. 50 lakh.

For the Asian Games, gold medalists will receive Rs. 75 lakh, silver medalists Rs. 50 lakh, and bronze medalists Rs. 30 lakh. Similarly, for the Commonwealth Games, gold, silver, and bronze medalists will receive Rs. 50 lakh, Rs. 30 lakh, and Rs. 20 lakh, respectively.

The PSB has also increased prize money for athletes participating in the Special Olympics World Games, the Blind World Games, and the Deaflympics. Furthermore, para-athletes participating in the Commonwealth and Islamic Solidarity Games will receive Rs. 50 lakh for a gold medal.

For winning a gold medal in the Asian Championships, athletes will receive Rs. 20 lakh. Individual gold medalists in the National Games and Quaid-e-Azam Games will be awarded Rs. 10 lakh, while silver and bronze medalists will receive Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 2.5 lakh, respectively.

The prize money for team events in the National and Quaid-e-Azam Games has been set at Rs. 5 lakh, Rs. 2.5 lakh, and Rs. 1 lakh for gold, silver, and bronze medalists, respectively. Under the new cash award policy, all medalists will also be issued a gold card. Gold card holders will have access to all facilities provided by the PSB and coaching centers.
