ISLAMABAD: The federal health authorities have assigned the look-after charge of director general (DG) of the Federal Directorate of Immunisation (FDI) to Zafar Iqbal Channa, who previously served as a nursing instructor/superintendent at PIMS, Islamabad, after the retirement of Dr Ahmed Kazi on December 21.
Channa holds an MSc in nursing and a diploma in Educational Planning and Management, Hospital Administration, and HRM.
Federal health ministry officials disclosed that three candidates, including former FDI DG Dr. Akram Shah (currently serving as District Health Officer, Nowshera), PIMS radiologist Dr. Ayesha Issani, and NIRM Executive Director Shaista Habib, have been shortlisted and interviewed for the DG office. However, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination has given the look-after charge to Channa.
