LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) on Tuesday agreed to give Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) the share promised with the party in development funds and transfers anAd postings of officials.
In a meeting of coordination committee held at the Governor House, the PPP leadership expressed its concern towards delay in fulfilment of promises by the PMLN over various issues related to the districts of Attock, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Chiniot, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan and other areas of southern Punjab where the PPP has either won, or its candidates stood at number two in the last general elections.
The meeting of the coordination committee was attended by PMLN leaders including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, Federal Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and Punjab Senior Minister Marriyam Aurangzeb. The PPP side was represented by former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider, former governor Makhdum Ahmad Mehmood, Nadim Afzal Chan, Syed Hassan Murtaza and Ali Haider Gilani. Sources stated that PPP stalwart Chan also expressing his annoyance stated that he did not want any share, but he was pacified by the other participants of the meeting. Sources stated that the PMLN sought time till first week of January for the redressal of complaints raised by the PPP. According to the set formula, the PPP was promised 30 percent share in development funds, transfers and postings of officials like law officers, district officers etc. The meeting agreed to grant headships of district development committees of Multan, Rahim Yar Khan districts to the PPP. The meeting also decided that the constituency where PPP candidate stood at number two against the PMLN candidate in last general elections would also be given equal development funds. The PMLN agreed that the PPP would be taken into consideration in all the key decisions related to transfer, posting of officials.
