Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Karachi Division President Allama Sadiq Jaffery and other leaders have condemned the ongoing violence in Parachinar, clarifying that the situation in Parachinar is not a sectarian issue but the result of actions by an anti-state group.

Addressing a joint press conference at the Wahdat House on Tuesday, they accused the provincial government of being complicit in the killing of Shia citizens. They held the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa accountable for the violence and termed the Kurram district a haven for terrorists.

Over the past three months, targeted attacks in Parachinar have intensified, with the most recent incident involving the brutal killing of two young men whose mutilated bodies were sent to the area. The people of Parachinar, alongside the bodies of the martyrs, have been staging a peaceful sit-in protest for the past five days. MWM central leader Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jaffery has announced nationwide sit-ins in solidarity with the Parachinar protesters. In Karachi, a central protest sit-in has commenced at Numaish Chowrangi.

The leaders declared that the sit-ins across the country would continue until the demands of the Parachinar protesters are met. They highlighted that both Shia and Sunni residents of Parachinar are suffering due to the siege, with severe shortages of food, medicines, and fuel creating a humanitarian crisis. Over 50 innocent children have reportedly died due to the lack of essential medicines.

The leaders criticised the provincial government’s decision to disarm Parachinar’s residents despite severe security threats, calling it a foolish move. They alleged that the government’s actions and statements, including those by Barrister Saif, have confirmed their suspicion of state complicity in the violence. They demanded the immediate dismissal of KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur for his inaction.
